Comments. A very informative reminder of why we're here.. constructive communication.. keeps the community on the right course. Being a pessimistic optimist today, I'll try to do my part
This is the first tutorial I have ever read at DeviantArt. It is right up my alley since commenting is the thing I do here more than any other. I believe, as you said Nate, comments make better artists because an artist who is encouraged will work harder to be better.
You can tell after awhile when a person has an artistic bent, and if this person gets comments, that creative talent will come alive (pbois, bubblz, jigit (do you remember jigit's first work?) lustrum, rosecoal, realitysquared, buzz-hog, boxxi, skrath, stuman, sephirot, koasati, jsenn, digi, endorphine) all of us, you know, all of us started with fear and trembling but a true desire to create, and comments kept us going.
We download a skin and use it but in the mechanics of doing that we forget to go back and tell the skin maker that this skin is wonderful, it works well. I am really guilty of that one.
Broaden your scope. Absolutely! Skinz, where I started, never allowed AVS presets. I discoved them here and at DeskMod, and they are the most fascinating examples of moving art.
These artists seem consumed with the use of color and movement and formulas which will make art listen to sound. It is the finest idea. Many of them have been working, unsung, for a long, long time. Get your WinAmp out and discover a total integration of the body and the senses in the viewing of a piece of abstract moving art.
This is an important and well-written tutorial, Nate. I am so glad you wrote this.
"Man, this one bites the big chode!"
(sorry, after I read that, I had to write it! Heh heh...)
Seriously though, this is great! It should be part of a DevArt new users manual or something. Totally oringinal idea, and totally ingenius as well, in that it has many valid points and strategies as to how to get noticed around here. Great work, m'friend! Keep it up!
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant.
